ngel Fire is located in the majestic Moreno Valley in Colfax County, New  23 miles east of Taos via US Hwy 64 and 152 miles northeast of Albuquerque.

The Moreno Valley is a 15 miles long, 3 mile wide, high alpine valley with an 8,382' base elevation. Surrounding mountains range from 11,086' Agua Fria Peak on the south end of the valley to 12,441' Baldy Peak at the north end of the valley. Wheeler Peak at 13,161', the highest mountain in the state, forms the northwest boundary of the valley. Latitude: N36 degrees 25.24 minutes Longitude: W105 degrees 17.40 minutes

Suggested routes from:

From Amarillo - take 287 N. to Dumas, 87 W. to Hartley - Dalhart - Clayton, 56/412 W. to Springer, I-25 N. to 58 West to Cimarron, 64 W. to Eagle Nest, 64 S. to blinking light;
Hwy 434 S. into Angel Fire. Or for those more familiar with the Amarillo area: take I-40 W. to Bushland, FM 2381 N. to FM 1061 N.W. (known as Boy's Ranch Road) to Hwy 385 through Channing - Hartley - Dalhart - Clayton, 56/412 W. to Springer, I-25 N. to 58 West to Cimarron, 64 W. to Eagle Nest, 64 S. to blinking light, Hwy 434 S. into Angel Fire.

From Dallas/Fort Worth - take Hwy 287 to Amarillo, I-40 W. to Tucumcari, NM, Hwy 104 to Las Vegas, Hwy 518 to Mora, Hwy 434 into Angel Fire. (The road from Mora to Angel Fire is very narrow - not recommended for RV's or trailers.)

From Kansas City (as told to us by a Chamber member) - Take I-35 to Emporia, KS - get on Hwy US 50 and go west. At Dodge City take US 56 southwest going through Oklahoma. Enter NM by Clayton, NM. US 56 ends at Springer, NM. Get onto I-25 North for 3 miles to NM Hwy 58 west to Cimarron. Pick up US Hwy 64 west to Eagle Nest. Continue on Hwy 64 out of Eagle Nest - Angel Fire is 12 miles south of Eagle Nest.
From Kansas City its a 12 hour trip.
Alternate: Take the Amtrak from KC to Raton and rent a car in Raton. Drive to AF on US 64. Train ride is about 12 hours, then 2 more hours to Angel Fire from Raton. Check with Amtrak regarding prices: 800-872-7245

We also recommend picking up a NM state map at the first Visitor's Center inside the NM state line.
